Thom Tillis is a Republican senator from North Carolina who has served in the Senate since January 2015. The Senate’s official North Carolina roster continues to list him as a current senator, and his official biography says he was first elected in 2014 and reelected in 2020.

Before entering the Senate, Tillis served in the North Carolina House of Representatives and was Speaker from 2011 through 2014. His official biography also describes a private-sector career in technology and management consulting before elected office.

He chairs Banking’s Financial Institutions and Consumer Protection Subcommittee and Judiciary’s Intellectual Property Subcommittee.
