The U.S. House Historian records that Schweikert was born March 3, 1962, attended Scottsdale Community College and Arizona State University, served in the Arizona House from 1989 to 1994, on the state Board of Equalization from 1995 to 2003, and as Maricopa County treasurer from 2004 to 2006 before entering the U.S. House in 2011.
The House Historian also records that the House reprimanded Schweikert in 2020 following an Ethics Committee investigation involving campaign-finance reporting and use of official resources.
