Judy Chu is the Democratic U.S. representative for California’s 28th District and has served in Congress since 2009. Her earlier public service included the Garvey School District board, the Monterey Park City Council and mayoralty, the California State Assembly, and the California State Board of Equalization.
In the 119th Congress, Chu serves on Ways and Means and Budget. Her official office identifies her as vice ranking member of Ways and Means, with subcommittee work covering Health, Oversight, and Work and Welfare; she is also chair emerita of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus after leading it through 2025.
