Mike Crapo

Mike Crapo is a Republican senator from Idaho. The Senate Finance Committee biography records prior service in the U.S. House and Idaho State Senate, as well as legal practice after graduating from Brigham Young University and Harvard Law School.

Crapo became Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee in January 2025. The committee oversees federal tax policy, major health and safety-net programs, international trade and other large portions of the federal budget.

Crapo and Finance Ranking Member Ron Wyden have also continued bipartisan tax-administration work during the 119th Congress. That cooperative legislative record is kept separate from partisan disagreements elsewhere in the committee’s portfolio.
