Sanford D. Bishop Jr. is the Democratic U.S. representative for Georgia’s 2nd District and has served in the House since January 1993. Before Congress he practiced law and served in both chambers of the Georgia General Assembly. He is a Morehouse College and Emory University School of Law graduate.
In the 119th Congress, Bishop serves on the House Appropriations Committee. His official office identifies him as ranking member of the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Subcommittee and as a member of the Financial Services and General Government and Military Construction–Veterans Affairs subcommittees.
